Disney+ Now Streaming Select MCU Titles in IMAX Enhanced. Disney+ is a new streaming service that has been released on November 12th, 2019. The service will be available to everyone for $6.99 per month or $69.99 per year. It will allow users to stream select MCU titles in IMAX Enhanced quality.

Those who tuned in to see The Legend of the Ten Rings and Shang-Chi premiere on Disney+ were in for a treat, as the service has added a new feature. IMAX Enhanced versions of several Marvel Cinematic Universe films are now available. These versions were formerly only available in theaters or on a limited number of 3D Blu-ray discs. Specially filmed video with a 1.90:1 aspect ratio is included in these versions.
IMAX Enhanced brings the power of IMAX to Disney+ via streaming and technological innovations. For the first time in the home, Disney+ customers will be able to watch select Marvel Cinematic Universe films in IMAX format, which will be available on all Disney+ enabled devices. Other IMAX Enhanced features and capabilities are not available on Disney+ at this time.
Some films may only use the format for a few scenes, while others may use it for their whole length. This might entail a 26 percent increase in picture size over the previous widescreen version, depending on how the film was filmed.
The aspect ratio of IMAX Enhanced material on Disney+ is increased to 1.90:1. Unlike other movies, where the image seems broad but does not fill the whole screen, this one does.
From the comfort of your own home or on the road, IMAX’s extended aspect ratio enables you to view up to 26% more of the original image and experience the entire size and breadth of the film. Only a few scenes in certain movies are shot in the increased aspect ratio of IMAX.

On the Disney+ main page, there is now an IMAX Enhanced category. There are currently 13 titles available. Following a title’s click, a new “versions” option for supported titles appears. Users may then choose which one they want to see.
